Sugary Drinks that is.
I was watching the Today Show this morning and Mayor Bloomberg is asking for a ban on restaurants serving 32 ounce size sugary drinks to customers (yes, the people that are paying). Get this...they can have two 16 ounce drinks brought out, but just not a 32 ounce size. It makes a lot of sense right? NOT
The rationale is because of the obesity epidemic in society. He stated that there as some opposition when regulations with cigarettes came out. Hello Mr. Mayor, the cigarette issue is something totally different. It is like apples and oranges. It has been proven that second hand smoke is detrimental to those around, so not only is the smoker endangering his/her health - they are having an impact on others. I'm sorry, but if I drink a 32 ounce Pepsi - it will mot ooze into the person sitting at the next table.
I think at some point, people should be responsible for their own decisions without the powers that be thinking they should be the parent for everyone. I am sure NYC has bigger issues that his attention could be focused on besides Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Dr. Pepper.
