ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Social networking is all the rage these days, Facebook alone has more than 200 million users.
It's a great way to keep in touch with friends, but it may also be a good way for crooks to steal from you.
Lydia Rogers told WALB she was a victim, crooks hijacked her Facebook account and told some of her friends she was robbed at gunpoint in England and needed money to get home.
On Wednesday she found out her sister in law had wired $700 to scammers who convinced them that Lydia was stuck London.
Rogers wasn't, she was right here in Georgia, now she wants to warn others not to fall for the scam.
"If you had this happen, someone contacting you saying they're stranded somewhere ask them questions only they would know the answer to," said Lydia Rogers, Scam Victim.
Rogers' sister-in-law used a credit card to send the money, so she was able to get it back.
Rogers plans to stop using Facebook and says several of her friends also plan to close their accounts.
