In Memoriam

Vincent M. Hall

Sunrise: August 27, 1969
Sunset: April 23, 2007

This is marking the second anniversary of Vincent's passing. It is still hard to believe he is gone. He was such a lively spirit and I still miss my friend constantly.

I am responsible for the Human Resources newsletter each month for my job. I found a beautiful poem to put in the newsletter following his passing. When I read it, I knew it was fitting for Vincent because he would want us to let him go. His parents stay in contact with us, and had to remind us of that the months following his suddent death. They were taking it hard as well, but they told us that Vince would be so upset with us for holding on to him.

He was a big guy with a heart even bigger. The smile in the picture was the smile he had every time he came into my office, and it is the smile I miss.

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me

When tomorrow starts without me
And I'm not there to see;
If the sun should rise and
find your eyes all filled with tears of me;
I wish so much you wouldn’t cry,
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things
We didn't get to say.

I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time you think of me
I know you’ll miss me too;
But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
That an Angel came and called my name
And took me by the hand
And said my place was ready
In heaven far above
And that I would have to leave behind
All those I dearly love.

As I walked through heaven's gates,
I felt so much at home.
When tomorrow starts without me
Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here, in your heart.

I miss him; he was the sweetest soul. I talked to him one day, he was waiting on the doctor to come in to tell him what time he was being released the next day. That morning, he was going through physical therapy on his leg, had a seizure and was gone. When they told me, the air was knocked out of me.

Thank you so much for remembering my friend. It is still hard for me to fathom the concept that I can't pick up the phone and hear him on the other end. I Thank God for allowing him to be my Friend if only for a season.
