Is It Christmas Yet?

Is it me or does it seem that Christmas comes around earlier every year? The Christmas commercials have even started.

Example: This couple on the corner took their Halloween display down on November 1, and the Christmas display went up. And, boy is it a display - it includes a snow globe, small carousel and Christmas tree. There is garland and lights along the fence, wreaths on all of the window and lights on the house. And yes, the lights are on every night. It looks like the North Pole there, you can probably see the display from space.

The one thing that I look forward to during Christmas time, besides the gifts and food, are the wonderful Christmas movies.

We were discussing some of the movies yesterday:
A Christmas Carol (the version with Alistair Sim is the BEST)
A Christmas Story (not a favorite but is a staple of the season)
The Preacher's Wife (wonder why I love that one? 2 words - DENZEL WASHINGTON)
Home Alone (AHHHHHHHHHH)
The Bishop's Wife
It's a Wonderful Life

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
Frosty the Snowman
Santa Claus is Coming to Town
Charlie Brown Christmas

Oh how could I forget, there's another favorite of mine, but this movie is more for the Thanksgiving holiday - Home for the Holidays, it stars Holly Hunter, Anne Bancroft, Robert Downey Jr., Dylan McDermott, and Charles Durning. If you haven't seen it, you HAVE to - it is hilarious.

I cannot leave out the wonderful Christmas music as well. The Temptations version of Silent Night, Nat King Cole's The Christmas Song. So much wonderful music to look forward to.

I still hold to tradition and do not put any Christmas decorations up, turn lights on or pull out my Christmas music until Thanksgiving. If people decide to do it, surely it is their perogative, that is a personal choice of mine. Our life goes by so fast already, it just seems to rush the season to me.
