As another Thanksgiving draws nearer, I have to reflect on the things that I am thankful for. My job, my family and my friends.
The thing I am most thankful for is my Mother. She is truly my angel, and I love her with all my heart. A true indication of how special she is, anyone that meets her calls her either Mom or Grandma. Yeh, they are trying to take my mother, but they can't have her. No way.
She has been through a lot in her life, and you have probably read in a couple of blogs where I talked about her marching with Dr. King. One of her pretend sons and his wife asked her to accompany them to Washington DC for the inauguration in January. She called me at work and told me about it. I told her, without hesitation, to go. It would mean so much to her, and to top it off. He and his wife told her to just pack a bag, she had to worry about nothing else.
No matter what is going on in your life, we all have something to be thankful for. I have a co-worker that her son-in-law was just killed in Afghanistan a couple of weeks ago. They buried him last weekend, and her daughter is 8 months pregnant with what would have been their first child. That truly puts everything in perspective.
To my friends, I am thankful for you. I look forward to another year of talking, gossiping and spending Barry time with each of you.
To everyone else, I truly hope you find something in life to fulfill you and that you enjoy. Balance is the key, while Barry is good, he is not all there is in this world. Get out and enjoy.
